Testimony Draft Shoreline Master Program Update
I am Vivian Henderson and I live in South Kitsap by Long Lake. I hope you all have read this morning’s “Kitsap Sun”. It has a special feature about Army Sgt. Julia Bringloe. Dangling from a hovering Black Hawk helicopter in Afghanistan; bullets flying around her, she hoisted 11 wounded soldiers to safety. She was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross. Only 6 other women have received this award.
I would say she’s a hero, wouldn’t you?
And there they are and there they were – the men and women of our armed forces all over the world – millions of them. Laying down their lives, serving their country, war after war after war, keeping us safe; defending our constitution – defending our American way of life and apologizing to no one. God Bless them!
Hundreds of thousands have laid down their lives. Hundreds of thousands have come home in pieces; hundreds of thousands live with night terrors and other scars of war. And every time our men and women have been called upon, they are there; they are ready.
THEY TOOK THE OATH ~ YOU TOOK THE OATH
“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…“
The men and women of our armed forces risk their lives every day defending our constitutions against “foreign” enemies, while every day you sell us out to our “domestic” enemies – other elected officials who have forgotten (if they ever knew) who they work for. Planners, regulators and bureaucrats who have taken the power away from our legislators – the people we elect.
No! No! Excuse me; our elected officials have simply handed over their power without as much as a whimper. Let me offer an example – The WA State Dept. of Ecology. That’s just one!
You’re not supporting or defending our constitution. You’re violating your oath. You’re sitting up there in your cozy little “commissioner chambers” pounding your gavel, pretending you’re listening to these people and their concerns and fears and I don’t believe you care.
You’re no hero. You are stealing my property and his and hers and his and hers. (Pointing to people in the audience). And every time you update something you steal more. You’re nothing more than thieves that come in the night ~ common thieves who destroy our peace of mind, steal the use of our land, turn neighbor against neighbor.
You could be heroes. You should be heroes. Local government is our last bastion against a too powerful state and federal government. You’re not standing with us to help us protect what is ours. You are their henchmen – their enforcers. You’re doing their dirty work
You’re feeding a monster; aiding and abetting a too powerful government. You will never satiate their appetite for control. Enough will never be enough. When government gets so powerful that they can tell us where we can or can’t plant a rosebush on our own property, so powerful that government serves declaratory injunctions when the property owner tries to use his own property; property on which he pays taxes year after year after year ~ something is wrong. Something is terribly wrong!
Get off my land and take your socialist planners and regulators and their ilk with you.
