GMA is a Failed Approach to Land Use Planning

After two decades of implementation, the Kitsap Alliance questions whether the GMA’s policies are actually improving the health, safety and quality of life enjoyed by the residents of the state. Our discussion paper strongly suggests they are not showing that policies to limit sprawl, to limit energy consumption, and to provide affordable housing have all produced more harm than good. We therefore strongly recommend that this legislature commission the State Auditor to conduct an independent assessment of the effectiveness of the GMA in achieving its 14 goals.
