Kitsap Hearing Examiner Clears Indianola Spit Lot for Development

A Kitsap County Hearing Examiner approved a variance to allow a house to be built on an Indianola Spit vacant lot. The lot was originally platted in the 1960’s before the adoption of the current County Zoning Ordinance. The 100 foot shoreline buffer will be reduced to 34 feet to allow a house to be built on the 160 foot deep lot. The proposed house will be similar in size and setback to the other houses on the spit.  As mitigation for the buffer reduction the owner will be required to plant vegetation along the shoreline.
