KINGSTON — Kitsap County residents will have a chance to get rid of grass clippings, tree prunings and brush for free Saturday, June 7, at Olympic Organics in North Kitsap.
The free program is part of an ongoing effort by Kitsap County Public Works to provide recycling alternatives to outdoor burning, said Christopher Piercy, the county’s recycling coordinator.
The event is for residential, not commercial, customers. Materials are limited to tree limbs, grass clippings and brush. Customers are responsible for unloading their own materials. Loads must be covered and secured, as required by state law.
Not accepted at the event are stumps, lumber (including railroad ties), garbage, tires, metal and plastics.
The free yard-waste-recycling event will be 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 7 at 7890 NE Ecology Road, off Hansville Road.
Normal rates at the Olympic Organics are $6.75 per cubic yard for brushy material and $8.25 for grass clippings, said company owner Jeff West. For other alternatives, clickhere.
