Opinion: Code revisions pushing property rights

Code revision pushing property rights

You, as a homeowner, should be very concerned about what Kitsap County Department of Community Development is trying to adopt.

The Kitsap County commissioners are attempting to consolidate code-compliance-enforcement provisions into one code, called Title V.

This is something all home and landowners should be aware of because it not only increases fines and litigation with the hearing examiner, but will require the landowner to be responsible for bringing property, structures and their uses into compliance with applicable code when purchasing or taking possession of property. (This will eliminate the concept of grandfathering.

Please go to the Department of Community Development website, call your commissioner, or visit kitsapalliance.org to learn more.
