Commentaries should be approximately 750 words. This is very important.
Kitsap Alliance does not pay for commentary or articles, but we will read it and consider it for publication.
Because of the volume of e-mail Kitsap Alliance receives, we are unable to respond to most unsolicited commentary submissions and inquiries. However, if we intend to run an unsolicited commentary, we will contact the writer within five business days of receiving it.
We link to commentaries in other Internet publications if we think they will be of interest to our readers.
All commentaries must be e-mailed, PDF or Word attachments will be accepted.
Please include your name, ground address, e-mail address and phone number.
New writers to Kitsap Alliance should include a brief (no more than 25 words) bio describing yourself, your expertise and/or where you have been published previously.
Keep it readable. Too many statistics, technical terms, acronyms, links or italics will cause readers to lose interest.
Numbers less than 10 are spelled out; numbers greater than nine are written as numbers. Exceptions: Always spell the number out if it begins a sentence. Write the number if it signifies age or percentage. Fractions such as two-thirds are spelled out and hyphenated.
Titles such as president, governor, etc. are lower case unless they immediately precede the person who holds the title. For example, President George Bush is currently the president of the United States.
Don’t follow organization names with acronyms. Write out the full name of the organization the first time and use its acronym with later references.
All text should be left-justified and each paragraph separated by a single line space.
Stick to your main point and back up your assertions with examples, logic, links, and/or facts. Unsubstantiated opinion is not very helpful, nor interesting.
